Sport and Cultural Activities

Whilst you are studying at NPTC you may choose to take part in activities that are unrelated to your main programme of study. In particular, students enjoy a variety of clubs and societies ranging from sport to cultural activities, including music, drama, art and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, many of which meet on Wednesday afternoons.

If the sport or activity you want to follow is not offered at present, why not start it up yourself? We encourage students to organise activities themselves. You can join one or more of the clubs and societies at the Activities Fair that will be held during the first or second week at College – there will be posters on campus giving you all the details.

Sport Academies

For students who are serious about their sport, we offer sports academies in the following sports:

  • Rugby (Men’s/Women’s)
  • Netball
  • Cricket
  • Football (Men’s/Women’s)
  • Women’s Hockey
  • Golf.

The purpose of the academies is to enable the sportsperson to combine their education with their sporting development. The benefits include:

  • A structured training programme that is overseen by experienced coaches
  • Personal performance monitored regularly by our team at the Sports Science Laboratory
  • Training sessions and lectures are planned to avoid unnecessary clashes
  • The chance to compete in the successful NPTC sporting teams
  • Being part of national coaching schemes for your chosen sport
  • If you compete regularly in one of the sports listed above for club, county or national teams, contact the Admissions Unit for a Sports Academy Application Form.
