Lilliput Day Nursery provides professional day care services for children under eight years of age, on the Neath, Afan and Coleg Pontardawe campuses. Each Nursery has two separate divisions: one for under two years and one for over two years. Each division has a large open play area, which is sub-divided by carpeted area and hard floor area. The carpeted area is for activities such as role play, floor play, table top activities, etc, while the hard floor area, which is covered in a non-slip vinyl sheet flooring, is for messy or wet play such as water trough, sand tray, painting, etc. There is a bathroom in each division with nappy-changing facilities, low level wash hand basins and children’s toilets.
Within the over twos' division there are two carpeted quiet rooms. These are for quiet activities such as reading, listening to music, watching a video and so on, or if a child needs to rest or sleep. Cots or beds are provided for children to rest or sleep fully and are supervised by a member of staff. The under twos' division has one carpeted quiet room for the same purpose. There is a completely enclosed, safety sponge surface outside play area, with cars, bicycles and small climbing frames for daily exercise, fully supervised at all times.
Lilliput Day Nursery supplies a wide range of play materials and equipment to provide a stimulating, interesting and educational curriculum. The activities are provided and supervised by qualified Nursery Nurses in a safe and hygienic environment, and are tailored to the child’s individual needs.
Parents and children are invited to visit the nursery for a pre-entry inspection by appointment with nursery staff. We feel that these inspection visits are important. They allow children and staff to meet, allow the parent an insight into the quality of care their child will receive, and talk over any specific issues with senior staff. These visits are friendly and informal ways for everyone to meet.
Food is provided, at the parents’ request, via College refectories on the Afan and Neath campuses at an additional cost. However, please note there are no facilities for the provision of food at Coleg Pontardawe. Parents will need to bring in packed lunches.
