Catering and Hospitality students at Neath Port Talbot College (NPTC) are serving up a storm with the NPTC's newly refurbished £45,000 training restaurant.
Formerly the award-winning Paragon training restaurant, Blasus, which means 'tasty' in Welsh, has opened with a new name, new look and a new menu after being overhauled and revamped during the 2008 College students' summer break.
Blasus, which can seat up to 50 people, is run and managed completely by students and staff of NPTC which provides on-the-job training and real-life experience to all Business NVQ, Catering and Hospitality students who take part.
NPTC's training restaurant was first set up over ten years ago. Since then it has seen thousands of customers and a variety of awards such as the best College Restaurant in Wales and the West of England 2004.
The restaurant's new menu ranges from £8.95 (for a three-course lunch) to £16.50 (for a four-course dinner) and includes Andalucian inspired gazpacho, seared Scottish salmon and warm chocolate fondant.
Also, part of the restaurant has become a coffee lounge which has a variety of snacks and refreshments and can be enjoyed from 10am to 1.30pm during college opening hours.
During the College's term times, Blasus is open for a lunch service from Tuesday to Friday and is open until 9pm on Wednesdays for a dinner service.
The restaurant can cater for individuals, small groups, large parties and corporate meetings. To make a reservation, please contact the restaurant's booking service on 01639 648342.
